Question from an Advisor

"There's this friend of mine who casually expressed interest in working together once when we were talking. How do I get him to work with me without sounding like I am pressuring him?" 

Give them an easy "escape hatch."

 

Say this: "A while ago you brought up the idea of working together on retirement planning. Do you want to set up a time to talk more, or should I close the file and forget we ever spoke about it?"


Make sure you include the phrase "close the file." People find those words to be very comforting because it makes them feel they aren't hurting you; it's simply closing a file.
