Greetings,
Welcome to this week's Advisor Training newsletter. Our goal is to provide training, education and insights for solo/independent Advisors who adhere to our client-first, counter-cultural, and sometimes counter-intuitive investment and business philosophy.
Small favor: I now have
two Business Facebook pages:
Please take a moment and follow both of them. I will help me tremendously. Thank you!

"This morning, I noticed a small client relatively new client, withdrew from their Roth IRA, so, drafted an email with a little help from AI. Was this correct?" |
|
|
Dear Melinda,
I noticed a recent withdrawal from your Roth IRA. Please tell me more about the reasons behind this withdrawal and what you're looking to achieve.
Often, it is beneficial to discuss the potential impacts, including any applicable taxes or penalties, such as the potential additional 10% tax for withdrawals from retirement plans before age 59½, unless specific exceptions apply.
I'm here to help you explore all available options, including the exceptions, to make informed decisions and keep your financial plan on track.
Please let me know if you'd like to schedule a time to talk, or feel free to call me directly to discuss.
Sincerely, Advisor |

First of all... this is the way. Following-up and staying on top of your business (and the client's) is part of what we do as Investment Advisors.
- If clients withdraw money from their accounts without calling us first, then we need to work on improving our relationships. If they feel the need to "circumvent" us, it's probably too late. Every time a client did this to me, they eventually closed their account, but those who called me first, usually had a good reason and only withdrew partial amounts (and stayed a client). I attribute that to a great follow-up system (Client Newsletters, birthday cards, being very responsive etc).
- The email above sounds like A.I. (not ideal). And it's too formal and too long. Be a friend and a human. Consider this...
Hi Melinda,
I noticed a recent withdrawal from your Roth IRA. I'm curious about the reasons and what you're looking to achieve - perhaps I can help.
I'd love a very brief chat, if your open to it. You can schedule a convenient time here (insert your booking service link).
Best idea: Do what other advisors won't do - CALL HER. |

Our AdvisorFirst Wiki is 35+ years of experience in one place. It started in 1989 with me taking notes of meetings, audios (cassettes!), videos (VHS!), many books, lessons from other advisors, and, of course, my own experiences. It evolved into a two-day live training course (I charged $35!), and eventually migrated online into it's present form.
It contains scripts, product knowledge, procedures, systems, psychology. insights and much more. It is updated frequently and is your first-stop for help.
It is offered at no cost and open to all advisors, including those who are not part of our AdvisorFirst Group.
